Lacrosse, also known as the “fastest sport on two feet,” is a game that uses skill, strategy, and athleticism. The point of lacrosse is to put a small ball into the goal using your stick without your opponent taking possession. Each game begins with a face-off, where two players stand with their hands and feet on the ground, holding their sticks together to try to win the ball. Manheim Township High School has many different sports to offer, but lacrosse has been embraced as a very popular and thrilling sport by the community.
During the months of November to March, the Manheim Township Boys Lacrosse team prepares for the upcoming season with regular sessions of lifting and conditioning. Coaches Dan Lyons and Jeremy Adams do everything they can to prepare the team for the upcoming challenges and opponents they will face.
In the 2023-2024 season, the MTHS Boys Lacrosse team went 10-0, winning the LL-League conference and 11-5 overall. As of this writing, the Blue Streaks are ranked 38th in PA and 655 nationally. One of the most challenging opponents they faced this past season was in the state quarterfinal game against La Salle College High School on June 8, 2024. The Blue Streaks put up a good fight in the beginning, but by the end, La Salle defeated the Blue Streaks with a final score of 4-11, ending the Blue Streaks year. Throughout the years of lacrosse at Manheim Township, the Blue Streaks have been the 2018 PIAA 3A State Champions, 7x PIAA District 3 Champions, and 10x Lancaster-Lebanon League Champions.
The 2024-2025 season will begin in early March, and all home games will be played on Journey Field, located on the Manheim Township campus. Look for a season calendar to be published in a later article so you can come out and support the Blue Streaks in the 2024-2025 season!
